This was another road trip job, this time to Valencia in Spain. Our trusty wee van which has been all over Europe decided this job would be the time to break down 2 hours away from our destination! After 4 hours at the side of a blazing hot Spanish motorway we got collected and arranged a van hire thanks to the amazing local production company. Also the out door skate park we were due to film at got flooded by a monster thunderstorm! People worked through the night to pump and sweep the water away.
The next morning we set up a 48 camera bullet time rig with 2x Zcams filming 4k 120p to create the lead in/out footage. The temperature got so high the cameras were starting to get heat stroke so we had to shade them enough to get the internal temp down enough to get the shots we needed. We’d only seen this heat error once before when a camera got melted by an Arri M18 light head in a studio several years ago.
It was a first for us but fun being part of making a full on kids advert like we used to watch on Saturday mornings while waiting for the cartoons to start again.
