Bullet Time Photography with Banesto Bank and Rafael Nadal

We were asked by to produce a bullet time shot of Rafael Nadal using our rig in mid air as he was swiping a tennis ball. We offered them out 42 camera rig and they said it was too small, so upgraded it to an 80 camera rig.

We got the go ahead on a Friday morning - 23rd of September 2009, we then had to buy 36 cameras, 500 connecting wires, have the clamping system machined and built for this specific rig by an engineering company and set off on monday the 26th morning for a 2 day drive to Spain to do the shoot. This was an extremely hectic weekend, but proof that almost anything can be done if needed.

We arrived in Spain late on Tuesday evening late... at 6am we were picked up and taken to the studio where a purpose built court had been produced, the rig/structure was supposed to be ready for us when we got there but due to delays it wasn't, so we sat for 15hrs until 9pm when it was finally ready. From that moment on, we worked until 3am, then went back to the hotel for a shower and slept until 6am lol, then back at the studio until 12am, then back to the hotel until 4am and back to the studio to have it all ready for Rafael turning up at 10am on the Friday morning.

Below are some images that we took whilst setting up.
